الملخص
This research focuses on the study of vocal performance diversity—specifically gestures and vocal expressions—and their effectiveness in enhancing the performance of the theatrical actor. The voice and the spoken word are fundamental means of communication in theatrical performance, serving as the primary link between the actor and the audience. The study explores how vocal techniques can be employed to make the voice more appealing, understandable, and socially engaging, while also addressing the challenges and obstacles actors may face during vocal delivery. Through vocal performance, feelings, ideas, and emotions are conveyed from the performer to the audience.
The research also examines how certain directors collaborate with actors on vocal performance, the stylistic approaches they adopt, and the extent to which these methods contribute to the development of the actor’s stage presence.
The structure of the research is as follows:
Chapter One: Methodological Framework – Includes the introduction, the research problem and its significance, methodology, importance and objectives of the study, its limitations, and definitions of key terms.
Chapter Two: Theoretical Framework – Divided into two main sections:
Section One: Gestures and vocal expressions, discussing the origins and references of these tools, and defining key concepts such as "gesture" and "vocal expression".
Section Two: The role of gestures and vocal expressions in theatrical performance, with a focus on acting techniques and the directorial approaches of selected theater directors.
Chapter Three: Research Procedures – Covers the research population, sample, methodology, and includes an analysis of the play Circus. It concludes with a discussion of the findings, key conclusions, and a list of references.
