The Aesthetic of Artistic Composition in the achievements of Abdul Redha Bahiya (Rodhan)

Section: Article

Abstract

This study explores the aesthetics of artistic composition in the works of the Iraqi artist Abd al-Ridha Bahiya (Rodhan). It is structured into four chapters. The first chapter outlines the research problem, its significance, objectives, scope, and key terms. The second chapter presents the theoretical framework, focusing on the concept of aesthetics and the principles and elements of artistic composition. The third chapter details the research methodology, including the selection of a purposive sample consisting of three artworks, followed by the tools and procedures used for analysis. The fourth chapter presents the findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

The study investigates how the artist utilizes compositional elements—such as calligraphy, ornamentation, color harmony, and visual balance—to achieve aesthetic unity within his works. It highlights Rodhan’s unique contribution to contemporary Iraqi visual culture by integrating traditional Islamic artistic heritage with modern design techniques.

The research concludes that the aesthetic value in Rodhan’s works is primarily achieved through deliberate use of color contrast, structural harmony, and the symbolic interplay of form and content. His compositions exemplify a creative fusion of classical and modern approaches in Arabic calligraphic and visual arts.
