This research, titled "Symbolic Engagements in the Relief Sculpture of Artist Dara Hama Saeed," aims to uncover the philosophical and aesthetic dimensions of symbolism within the artist's sculptural works produced between 1987 and 2020. The research problem centers on how the artist constructs his Symbolic Engagements to transform physical forms into profound intellectual connotations within the field of Relief Sculpture.
Adopting a descriptive-analytical methodology, the study examines a selection of the artist's works (such as The Horses, The Knight, and The Storm). The theoretical framework illustrates that Symbolism serves as a vital bridge connecting mental imagery with physical reality. The Artist utilizes the "Horse" as a central icon to embody values of strength, endurance, and cultural continuity. Through these artistic operations, the artist demonstrates a sophisticated ability to simplify and abstract forms to serve a deeper conceptual meaning.
The findings conclude that these symbolic engagements are not arbitrary but are the result of rich cultural and environmental accumulations, successfully blending Kurdish heritage with modern artistic principles. Ultimately, Art in this context functions as a medium to reflect human struggle and interaction with existence, achieving a precise balance between aesthetic beauty and intellectual depth.
